Housing Affordability

Australia is in a housing affordability crisis and only Labor will tackle the crisis and put the great Australian dream back within reach of middle and working class families.

New South Wales is a state with ambition and NSW Labor has big, ambitious and achievable plans to help the State create a better and more prosperous future.

But the housing affordability crisis threatens that ambition.

A NSW Labor Government will:

- Increase the taxes on foreign investors
- Introduce a tax on properties that are vacant for longer than 6 months
- Reform of negative gearing and halve the capital gains tax discount - Audit of all publically-owned land and create the Affordable Housing Land Register (AHLR)
- Introduce A 25% Affordable Housing mandate on development on Government owned land and a 15% Affordable Housing mandate on development on privately developed land

Our plan will produce thousands of real homes each and every year in perpetuity for people to live in at an affordable price.

Will you join the campaign to put the great Australian dream back within reach for everyday Australians?
