PETER TRIST NAMED AS WINNER OF THE 2018 NEWCASTLE NSW SENIORS LOCAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

State Member for Newcastle, Tim Crakanthorp has presented that Newcastle City Library volunteer, Peter Trist with the Newcastle 2018 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Award.   

Mr Trist was acknowledged for his tireless volunteer work at the Newcastle Library in initiating the popular ‘Book Chat’ program.  The ‘Book Chat’ program runs once a month, each meeting has a different literary theme carefully planned by Peter.

Peter’s program provides people from all walks of life with an opportunity to interact and engage with an extensive group of people who they may never have had a reason or occasion to speak to before.

Peter’s warmth, acceptance and effort to include all who choose to attend ‘Book Chat’ have significantly contributed to the long term success of the Library’s program.

The Awards aim to highlight the achievements of older people as part of the 2018 NSW Seniors Festival, which is celebrating its 60th Diamond Anniversary this year.
